Qualified Expert Witness Training
May 27–29, 2026
Supporting Families
The work ahead calls for people who understand why Native families fight to stay whole. This training brings people into that conversation with care and patience. The room becomes a place where stories, history, and responsibility meet. Participants spend three days learning how ICWA protects children and how a qualified voice can guide a court toward decisions that honor culture and community. Nothing in this training is rushed. Every session slows things down so people can see how each part of the law fits into the real lives of Native families.

Standing Steady
People who attend begin to recognize what it takes to speak for a child whose future is caught in a system that often feels too large. They learn how to show up with clarity, how to understand what a judge needs to hear, and how to stand on the side of keeping relatives connected. The conversations build on one another. By the final day, participants carry a clearer sense of responsibility and know that the role is not about authority. It is about service.

Holding Space
The heart of this training is simple. Native families deserve someone who understands why belonging matters. Someone who can walk into a courtroom and speak from knowledge, not guesswork. Someone who understands that ICWA was written to protect children from the harms that come when identity is treated as something small. This gathering prepares people to take on that work with steadiness and respect.
